YONKERS, NY — Fleeing across county lines proved to be a carjacking suspect's undoing.

A man who police say carjacked a minivan in the northeast Bronx didn’t find safe haven in Westchester County, thanks to a coordinated effort by Westchester County's Real Time Crime, the Westchester County Police Department and the Yonkers Police Department.

Shortly before 9 a.m. on Thursday, the NYPD’s 47th Precinct reported that a Toyota Sienna minivan had just been carjacked in their precinct. Westchester County's high-tech Real Time Crime sprung into action and soon found that the stolen minivan had entered Yonkers and was traveling on Bronx River Road.

A Westchester County police officer spotted the minivan in a parking garage and ordered the driver out of the vehicle. The man instead ran off and a foot chase led into a residential building on Nepperhan Ave. WCPD and Yonkers PD officers arrived on scene, searching floor by floor and on the roof.
