Child Sex Abuse Nets Mount Vernon Man Prison Sentence

He will also be required to go through 15 years post-release supervision and register as a sex offender.

MOUNT VERNON, NY - A Mount Vernon resident was sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a child.

Ronald Long III, 29, of E. Lincoln Avenue was given 16 years in state prison, Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty announced Tuesday.

Long was found guilty Feb. 4, 2016, by a jury of first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sexual abuse, both felonies.

McCarty said the defendant committed the crime of criminal sexual act against a 10-year-old girl between December 25, 2014, and January 31, 2015.

During that period of time, Long engaged in oral sexual contact consisting of contact with his penis and the child’s mouth.

The abuse occurred in the victim’s bedroom and was witnessed by the child’s 9-year-old brother.

The sexual abuse charge stems from March 24, 2015, when the defendant made contact between his penis and the victim’s buttocks.

Long was arrested March 27, 2015, by the Mount Vernon Police.

Both children testified at his trial which began Jan. 21, 2016.

Along with the prison sentence, Long will be required to go through 15 years post-release supervision. At the completion of his sentence, he will have to register as a sex offender.
