Up-Scale Landscape Painting: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, June 7, 8 & 9, 10AM-3PM Explore the process of painting on a large scale in this three-session summer intensive with artist Rachael Wren, whose paintings are on view in Wave Hill House through December 4, 2016. Conceive and construct a grande landscape from sketch studies to finished painting, using Wave Hill’s gardens and expansive views as your inspiration. $175/$135 Wave Hill Member.
Contemporary Composites: Sunday, June 26, 10AM-1PM Join artist Amy Lincoln for a workshop designing plant composites from observation in the Marco Polo Stufano Conservatory and gardens, then painting a composition using these designs as the focal point. Start with some mixed-media drawing activities and create a one-ofa-kind work of art in acrylic. Ages 12 and older welcome with an adult. $55/$45 Wave Hill Member.
Felted Tree Portraits: Saturday, July 23, 10AM-1PM Lose yourself in the beauty of Wave Hill’s historic and deeply rooted trees as you experience the soothing textures of wet felting. Unite fibers of wool to construct your own “painting” made entirely of felt. Following this workshop, led by artist Anne Scully of GroArt Therapy, enjoy a tree tour with one of our horticulture specialists. Ages 12 and older welcome with an adult. $55/45 Wave Hill Member.
Larger than Life: Watercolors from the Garden: Tuesday & Wednesday, Aug. 9 & 10, 10AM-4PM Experiment with abundant colors, textures and forms as you paint magnified watercolor portraits of your favorite blooms. With individual guidance and technical assistance from artist Wennie Huang, observe and reinvent the flora of Wave Hill. $130/$100 Wave Hill Member.

The buildings and grounds of Wave Hill are owned by the City of New York. With the assistance of the Bronx Borough President and Bronx representatives in the City Council and State Legislature, Wave Hill’s operations are supported with public funds through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs; the Zoos, Botanical Gardens and Aquariums Grant Program administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; the National Endowment for the Arts; the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation; and New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
A 28-acre public garden and cultural center overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades, Wave Hill’s mission is to celebrate the artistry and legacy of its gardens and landscapes, to preserve its magnificent views, and to explore human connections to the natural world through programs in horticulture, education and the arts.
Hours: Open year-round, Tuesday–Sunday and many major holidays. 9AM–5:30PM, Mar 15–Oct 31. 9AM–4:30PM, Nov 1–Mar 14.
Admission to Grounds: $8 adults, $4 students and senior 65+, $2 children 6-18. Free Tuesdays and Saturdays until noon. Free to members, children under 6.
Directions: Getting here is easy! Located only 30 minutes from midtown Manhattan, Wave Hill’s free shuttle van transports you to and from our front gate and Metro-North’s Riverdale station, the W. 242 St. stop on the #1 subway line, and to and from our free offsite parking lot.
