Dangerous Air Quality Closes Yonkers Schools On Thursday

YONKERS, NY — The lingering effects of forest fires in Canada will keep Yonkers public school students out of class on Thursday.

Late Wednesday evening, the district announced that all Yonkers Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, June 8, due to air quality alerts from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Officials said the hazardous conditions in Yonkers led to the decision.

The Yonkers City School District Central Office will be open, according to administrators.
