The Lohud Influencer Speaker Series, created by The Journal News/lohud.com, will feature Will Shortz, the New York Times crossword editor and puzzle master for NPR's “Weekend Edition Sunday,” at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Yonkers on May 4.

Following a screening of the documentary “Word Play,” Shortz will play interactive games with the audience. The proceeds from the event will go to the White Plains-based nonprofit MVP Basketball Camp, a group supported by Shortz.

The speaker series, which debuted in February, is hosted by Engagement Editor Swapna Venugopal Ramaswamy, and features leaders in varied fields who have chosen to call the Lower Hudson Valley home. The proceeds from the events, held at various locations, benefit local nonprofit organizations.

Prior speakers in the series have included Hollywood screenwriter Mark Bomback and Carol Evans, founder and president emeritus of Working Mother Media.
