Guilty Plea in Ex-Girlfriend's Bathroom Beating

The victim suffered lasting brain injuries and physical impairment.

A Yonkers resident who beat a man he found in his ex-girlfriend's apartment so severely that he suffered lasting brain and physical injury has pleaded guilty to burglary and assault.

Blake Natal of Yonkers pleaded guilty Thursday to:

  • one count of Burglary in the First Degree, a class “B” Felony,
  • one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a class “D” Felony.

At 9:59 a.m. Nov. 22, 2015, Natal entered his ex-girlfriend's apartment on Radford Street in Yonkers, without her permission, Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty said today announcing the guilty plea.

He had been served an order of protection on Oct. 23 which required him to stay away from her.

Natal then realized that there was another person inside, a man who was locked in the bathroom. He kicked open the bathroom door and repeatedly punched the man, beating him so badly that the victim suffered a traumatic brain injury, a spinal fracture and a laceration to the back of his head, prosecutors said.

The victim was hospitalized at Jacobi Medical Center for approximately one month for his injuries. He was then moved to Mount Sinai Medical Center for approximately one month for further treatment. His injuries resulted in severe cognitive and physical impairment.

On Nov. 25, 2015, at 1:06 p.m., the defendant again violated the order of protection by calling his ex-girlfriend, telling her that he was coming to Yonkers to finish the job he started, causing her to feel threatened and fear for her safety.

An investigation by the Yonkers Police Department led to his arrest by the Warrant Squad on Dec. 30, 2015.

He will be sentenced on Nov. 11. He faces a maximum of 25 years in state prison.

His remains in prison awaiting sentencing.

Assistant District Attorney ToniAnn Gagliardi of the Special Investigations Division is prosecuting the case.
