Guilty Plea in Park Robbery, Shooting

The victim refused to turn over his personal property, said the Westchester County DA.

A Yonkers man accused of killing someone who didn't want to be robbed has pleaded guilty, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced. It's been almost a year since Robert Daniels shot Joseph Huguet in Doyle Park.

Daniels, 28, pleaded guilty before Judge Barry Warhit to one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A” Felony. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years-to-life in state prison.

At 8:47 p.m. May 31, 2016, Huguet was in Doyle Park when Daniels attempted to rob him at gunpoint, Scarpino said. The victim refused to turn over his personal property, at which point Daniels shot him several times using a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol and ran out of the park.
