Gunpoint Holdup Reported At Ridge Hill Mall Opposite Whole Foods

Yonkers police are investigating a mugging in which the victim was forced to hand over jewelry and the suspect fled the mall.

YONKERS, NY — A shopping center where we would normally expect to feel safe was touched by gun violence, according to police.

On Wednesday night, shortly after 8 p.m., a 28-year-old Bronx resident was held up at gunpoint at the Ridge Hill mall. The incident took place on Market Street, opposite Whole Foods Market.

The suspect forced the victim to hand over an article of jewelry before fleeing the scene in a light-colored Toyota vehicle.

The victim, who was with an adult and a juvenile female, was not injured during the incident. The suspect and victim were apparently unknown to each other, according to police.
