Gusty Winds Fanned The Flames At Mount Vernon Fire: MVPD

MOUNT VERNON, NY — High winds made fighting a two-alarm residential fire especially challenging Tuesday evening.

Flames consumed the residential building on South Second Avenue in Mount Vernon.

Firefighters were called to the dwelling on a report of smoke in the building, but when they arrived moments later, found the building in flames. Crews from Mount Vernon and Pelham fire departments brought the blaze under control just before 5 p.m., but continued to monitor hotspots.
