Homeless Man Stabbed His Mother To Death

The man, who asked a security guard at her apartment complex to call the cops, was sentenced Wednesday.

A homeless man has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison for killing his mother, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced Wednesday.

Andre Coverdale, who has no known address, walked up to a security booth at an apartment complex on Schroeder Street in Yonkers on Jan. 16, 2016, at about 12:30 p.m. He told the security officer that “he had just killed his mother.” He asked the guard to call the police.

When Yonkers police arrived on the scene, the 29-year-old was waiting at the guard booth. Coverdale told the officers his mother was in apartment 225 at the complex. When police officers entered the apartment, they found the victim dead in her bed. The medical examiner later said she died from multiple stab wounds.
