International Display Company Buys Mount Vernon Company, Factory

MOUNT VERNON, NY — This week, the Mount Vernon Industrial Development Agency approved an inducement resolution for MK Illumination USA, Inc. – an international company with operations in North Carolina - to purchase property and relocate their factory operations to Mount Vernon.

“We are pleased to welcome MK Illumination USA to Mount Vernon," Mayor Richard Thomas, who chairs the MVIDA, said in the announcement. "Mount Vernon’s location is unmatched, we are only 20 minutes away from midtown Manhattan and 45 minutes from the Port of Newark and John F. Kennedy, Jr. Airport. It’s no surprise that an international company would scour the world and pick Mount Vernon. We are excited that MK Illumination will be continuing the American Christmas tradition of creating beautiful dream-like displays for all to enjoy.

American Christmas is a much-beloved corporate resident and MK Illumination’s pledge to expand their operations and hire more employees is great for the future economic success of Mount Vernon.”

MK Illumination USA, Inc is an Austrian-based company with annual revenues of over $100 million with operations in over 120 countries. They are in the process of purchasing land located at 30 Warren Place in Mount Vernon and the company American Christmas. In return for the aid, MK Illumination has pledged to expand the operations of American Christmas and hire additional full-time employees to manage company operations.

City officials did not answer a question from Patch about the nature or size of the inducement.
