Lincoln Elementary Celebrates New Playground

Three years of school-wide fundraising made it possible.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — After three years of successful, school-wide fund-raising yielding more than $70,000, Lincoln Elementary School in Mount Vernon was happy to cut the ribbon, officially opening new playground equipment for students.

“This playground is the perfect example of the wonderful things that happen when a group of caring, and committed individuals join forces with an entire school community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students,” Lincoln Principal Rebecca Jones said Friday.

The idea, and fundraising-efforts for the park were spearheaded by PTA co-presidents, Pamela Monroe and Lucinda Ribeiro.
