Manhunt Continues After Victim Shot In Front Of Home

Witnesses said the shooter escaped in a high-end sports car. The wounded man was hit in the chest and remains in critical condition.

YONKERS, NY — Gunfire broke out in a residential area in Yonkers less than an hour after sunset Thursday evening, leaving a man critically injured and a suspected shooter on the run.

Just after 6:3o p.m., Yonkers Police Department were called to Fortfield Avenue in response to reports of gunfire. First responders found a 33-year-old male victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a trauma center and remains in critical condition, according to police.

Detectives from the Yonkers Police Department Major Case Squad and Crime Scene Unit are investigating the shooting. Investigators believe the victim was shot in front of a home by a suspect who witnesses say fled the scene in a white vehicle.

So far, no arrests have been made in connection with last night's shooting. Police said they are still working to identify a suspect.
