"I intend to bring the same dedication and leadership skills in working with my colleagues on the Mount Vernon City Court to ensure equality, justice, and fairness in our judicial system as well as protecting the safety and well-being of our residents and families."

He was selected after a vetting and interview process before the Mayor’s Judicial Committee, chaired by William Wagstaff III, Esq. The committee reviewed several resumes submitted to the Mayor and gave three recommendations to the Mayor.
Mayor Patterson-Howard said she brought together individuals who had been affected by the justice system to create a diverse panel of thought for the Judicial Committee. "As a former drug court coordinator the years I served at the Mount Vernon City Court gave me a unique insight on the challenges and needs of the community. My choice is reflective of my experience during that time."
The committee was chaired by William Wagstaff and included members Donna Jackson, Marlene Furtick, Mary Kingsley, Richard Morales, Dennis Hanratty and Hugh Marriot.
"The opportunity to learn about the candidates’ professional success thus far, passion for justice, and promise for the future gave me confidence that the bench is in every candidate’s future," Wagstaff said. "To see the array of talented lawyers we have in the community, made me a proud Mount Vernonite."
