Mount Vernon Man Shot At Illegal Basement Social Club: MVPD
Police were called to the Emergency Room at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital where the gunshot victim told them he was shot at Mangoville.

MOUNT VERNON, NY —A Mount Vernon man was shot early Monday, inside an illegal social club in the city, police said.
Mount Vernon police officers responded to the Emergency Room of Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital around 1:30 a.m., after being contacted about a gunshot victim.
Officers found 32-year-old Anthony Reese had a gunshot wound to his left upper leg. Reese told officers that he was shot in the basement of Mangoville Meat & Grocery, Inc., a restaurant on South 4th Ave, according to officials.

When detectives and police officers went to Mangoville to investigate, they found the door was locked, but were eventually let in by staff. The officers found what appeared to be an illegal social club, with a bar and seating, in the basement, MVPD said.
The Mount Vernon Police Department said there are currently no suspects and no witnesses have come forward.
