Mount Vernon Man Tried To Beat 2 Men With Baseball Bat

Authorities said the entire attack was captured on surveillance video.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A Mount Vernon man was found guilty by a jury Monday for attacking two men with a baseball bat in 2018. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Robert Johnson, 33, of Mount Vernon, was deemed guilty of two counts of first-degree attempted assault and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

Authorities said Johnson attacked the men with a bat in the vicinity of Eighth and Fifth avenues in Mount Vernon around 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6, 2018.

The entire attack was captured on surveillance video, police said.

Johnson has two prior felony convictions and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 30.
