Mount Vernon PD Nabs Connecticut Fugitive Wanted For Child Pornography

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Mount Vernon police said that a reinvigorated task force is already paying off with dramatic results.

"Our Warrant Task Force has recently been reconstituted so that both Patrol and Detective Officers are a part of it," the Mount Vernon Police Department said in a statement released on social media. "Over the last two weeks, they have been very active, making many arrests on both arrest and bench warrants out of Mount Vernon City Court. They also have been looking for people wanted in other jurisdictions."

On Thursday, task force members spotted a fugitive, wanted out of Meridian, Connecticut on a child pornography warrant, standing on the street. After being taken into custody, the unlucky prisoner will be extradited back to Connecticut.

"We want to thank Detective Patterson and Officers Beato and Cartwright for their great work and dedication to the citizens of Mount Vernon," the MVPD said, announcing the arrest.
