Mount Vernon Police Probe Shooting At Hartley Park
Police ask anyone with information to call the detective division.
MOUNT VERNON, NY — Police are investigating a shooting incident that took place at Hartley Park.
A 20-year-old Mount Vernon man was shot in the chest, Mount Vernon police said.
Officers were called to the area at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday on a report of shots fired. Emergency dispatch informed officers that a victim was transported to the Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital emergency room.

The victim, later identified as Julio Carreto, was conscious and alert when officers arrived at the hospital. Medical staff informed them that the injury was non-life threatening.
Carreto was transported to Jacobi Medical Center for further treatment. Wednesday afternoon he was listed as stable.
