Mount Vernon Police Seek Woman Who Tried To Rob Store At Gunpoint

The incident happened Dec. 30, police said.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Mount Vernon police asked the public for help finding a woman accused of trying to shoplift and then threatening the store owner with a gun.

At 11:10 a.m. Dec. 30, a woman entered a store at 106 S. 4th Ave. and attempted to steal items by concealing them in her bag, police said. When the owner of the store confronted the stranger, she reached into her bag and produced a black handgun and pointed it at the owner while threatening to shoot him, police said.

After a brief struggle the woman fled south on S. 4th Ave., police said.
