Mount Vernon Student Earns An Early Graduation Present
The senior has attended MVHS for three years but was able to achieve the required credits to graduate ahead of schedule.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — An especially dedicated high school student has joined the class of '23 after setting lofty educational goals.

Ashley Nembhard, senior at Mount Vernon High School, is graduating early in June 2023. She has attended MVHS for three years but was able to achieve the required credits to graduate ahead of schedule. She will graduate with a GPA of 98. She was on the High Honor Roll every semester of high school.

Ashley was a member of High School Heroes, a program where she took a five-week course to learn how to teach. She then went to elementary schools across the district and taught that lesson to younger students. For her work in the program, she received the High School Heroes award. She has also served as a tutor for Math and English Language Arts.
She was also a member of Girl’s Magic, a discussion-based group supporting girls socially, emotionally and academically. Additionally, she was a student ambassador and event host for the College and Career Center. She helped plan events such as Career Day at MVHS.

Outside of school, Ashley has worked as a summer camp counselor where she mentored and tutored campers. She also works as a childcare provider and helps the children with homework and tutoring.
Next year, Ashley is attending the College of Mount Saint Vincent on a full-ride scholarship. She was also accepted into the University of Connecticut, Goodwin University, University of Saint Joseph, and several other schools.
"It means a lot to be graduating a year early,” said Ashley. “It was not an easy task to do; it took hard work, dedication, and lots of determination to get this done. All the late nights, essays, projects, and stress this school year was very challenging, but with a lot of perseverance I made it.”
