Mt. Vernon to Hold Superintendent’s Reading Challenge Fundraiser

Mt. Vernon City School District and the Mt.Vernon PTA Council will host the Superintendent's Reading Challenge Fundraiser on March on 13.

From Focus Media: The Mount Vernon City School District and the Mount Vernon PTA Council are hosting the Superintendent’s Reading Challenge Fundraiser from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, March 13, at Barnes & Noble of Eastchester in the Vernon Hills Shopping Center, 680 Post Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583.

Tickets are $75 per person in advance and $100 per person at the door. The event will include a celebrity guest and a silent auction. Hors d’oeuvres and either a glass of wine or beer are included.

A portion of proceeds from all purchases will be donated to the Superintendent’s Reading Challenge. The challenge has been very successful at encouraging students to read hundreds of thousands of books the past few years.

Tickets are available here and at the Board of Education, 165 N. Columbus Ave., Mount Vernon, NY 10553. Checks can be made payable to MV PTA Council.

“We are excited to be partnering with Barnes & Noble of Eastchester for the Superintendent’s Reading Challenge Fundraiser,” Board of Education Trustee Darcy Miller said. “We are hopeful this is just the beginning of a long relationship, which will continue to create many wonderful opportunities for Mount Vernon students to become better readers. We would like to thank Barnes & Noble for their support.”
