Paterson Driver Leads NY Troopers On Highway Chase: Cops
The 29-year-old New Jersey man was driving a Camaro, police said.

YONKERS, NY — A Paterson, New Jersey man who police allege had pulled over on the Thruway while intoxicated was arrested after a pursuit from one highway to another in Westchester County.
At 3:52 a.m. Sunday, state police were dispatched to the area of I-87 near the I-287 merge for a possible disabled vehicle. Police said they wanted to render aid to the driver after locating a Chevrolet Camaro parked occupied with the engine running.
However, as they approached the car, the driver fled.

With police in pursuit, the Camaro exited I-287 onto the Sprain Parkway. The pursuit continued for roughly five miles until the driver, later identified as Freddy L. Acosta of Paterson, NJ, pulled over on the right shoulder, police said.
The 29-year-old was taken into custody without further incident. His blood alcohol content was .11 percent, police allege. He was charged with:

- Driving While Intoxicated; a Unclassified Misdemeanor
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a BAC .08% of 1% Alcohol or More; a Unclassified Misdemeanor
- Multiple vehicle and traffic violations
Acosta was issued traffic tickets returnable to the city of Yonkers Court on July 12. He was released to a sober third party.
