Plan to Grow Local Economy and Demolish Property Taxes

This week on "Mount Vernon Moving Forward," Mayor Thomas invited several small business owners to share his plan to promote Mount Vernon's businesses and said, "We are the 3rd fastest growing economy in the state and we want our businesses to shine and blossom."

The strategy is to include small businesses, not exclude them. We are in a perfect position to grow our economy and small businesses will flourish.

One of the key features of the Comprehensive Business Plan is to demolish property taxes in a major way. The plan includes building a ferry, in which the projections alone can reduce pressure on taxes by 2% and a a parking garage which can also reduce taxes by 2%-4%.

We want to build up Mount Vernon, bring in more tourism and keep our dollars in our community.
