Plea Entered In Mount Vernon Armed Robbery

Police said he threatened to shot the people who were in the apartment at the time of the incident.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A Bronx man pleaded guilty Thursday to robbing a home in January in Mount Vernon. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Tykeem Hines, 21, of the Bronx, was charged with second-degree robbery, a violent felony.

Scarpino said, on Jan. 14, Hines committed a robbery at gunpoint in an apartment on South 13th Avenue in Mount Vernon.

He had negotiated to sell a Moncler brand jacket to the victim over social media, but when he met the victim for the sale, he brandished a gun inside the victim’s apartment and demanded money.

At the time of the robbery, three adults and a 6-year-old were in the apartment.

Hines threatened to shoot the victims and stole money and a bracelet before fleeing from the apartment.

He ran from the scene and threw his unloaded gun to the ground. It was recovered by Mount Vernon police.

Hines was arrested Feb. 27, when he appeared in Bronx Criminal Court for pending gun charge.

He is expected to be sentenced Sept. 27. In accordance with his plea agreement, he will receive a sentence of six years in state prison.
