Police Find $10K In Illegal Fireworks

After arresting a man selling fireworks from the trunk of his car, they searched his home and found a lot more.

YONKERS, NY — Yonkers police confiscated $10,000 worth of illegal fireworks Tuesday. They arrested a 34-year-old city resident who they said was selling illegal fireworks from the trunk of his vehicle.

Then, they said, their subsequent search of his home resulted in the seizure of 28 cases of the illegal recreational explosives.

Yonkers police found 28 boxes of illegal fireworks in a man's home.

Fireworks are illegal in the City of Yonkers and Westchester County.

"They can cause serious physical injury or even death when mishandled, pose a fire hazard to our densely populated residential neighborhoods, and impact the quality-of-life of our residents and pets," police said.
