Police Investigate Shooting, Assaults In Mount Vernon
Police are investigating the death of a 27-year-old.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A 27-year-old was shot dead Sunday. Two other people were assaulted and police are investigating to see if the crimes are related.
On Sunday at about 11:16 p.m. Mount Vernon Police Officers responded to the area of South Columbus Avenue on a report of shots fired. The officers found an unresponsive man at the intersection of South Columbus Avenue and Sargent Place. The victim had apparently been shot in the head, torso and left leg.
The victim, later identified as Orville Bell, 27, was transported to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Two other people were assaulted and sustained non-life threatening injuries. It is yet to be determined if these two incidents are related to the fatal shooting.
Chief Richton Ziadie said, “The men and women of the Mount Vernon Police Department are working vigorously on this investigation. We extended our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims.”
