The SPCA of Westchester announced Thursday that their Humane Law Enforcement Unit, along with Yonkers Police Officers Devon Larkin and Trevor Buchanan, arrested a Yonkers woman who violently evicted a puppy from an apartment building.
Kiani Wright, 43, of 19 Intervale Place, has been charged with animal cruelty.
Yonkers police received a phone call from a Good Samaritan May 13 after a 6-month-old puppy was seen being dragged and then violently picked up by her neck and thrown outside the building.

The SPCA of Westchester’s HLE Unit was called in to further investigate and determined that the puppy, a pitbull named Pebbles, needed to be transported to a veterinarian for medical attention. During her examination it was discovered that she was suffering from a fractured tooth and abrasions on her chin.
During the investigation, the HLE Unit was able to obtain video from a nearby camera that they allege showed them Wright was responsible for Pebbles’ injuries. She was apprehended and charged with animal cruelty.
