Stabbing At Elementary Playground: 15-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized

Mount Vernon police said the child was rushed to Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx for treatment of a stab wound and is in stable condition.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — The Mount Vernon Police Department is investigating the stabbing this afternoon of a 15-year-old at an elementary school playground.

Shortly before 5 p.m., police received reports of the stabbing that injured a 15-year-old boy on S 4th Ave., in the playground of Rebecca Turner Elementary School. The child was rushed to Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx for treatment of a stab wound and is in stable condition, according to officials.

Police said no further details about the incident are available as the investigation continues.

The Mount Vernon Police Department is asking anyone with information about this afternoon's stabbing to contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510. All calls will be kept confidential, according to police. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via MVPD's "Text-A-Tip" by texting "MVPD" and the tip to 847411. Information can also be sent anonymously using the "Mount Vernon PD" app, available in the Google Play and Apple store.
