Stabbing At Mount Vernon High School Investigated, Suspect In Custody

The young victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and is listed as being in stable condition, according to police.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A stabbing at a Westchester high school has left a young victim hospitalized, according to authorities.

The Mount Vernon Police Department says that at around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, detectives responded to a call about a stabbing at Mount Vernon High School.

Once on the scene, police found a youth with multiple stab wounds, who was attended to and taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, and is listed as being in stable condition.

A suspect has been apprehended by police. Mount Vernon detectives said they are following up on additional leads and evidence related to the stabbing.

Mount Vernon police are asking anyone with information about the afternoon incident to contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510. Police say all calls will be kept confidential. Anonymous tips can also be sent via MVPD's "Text-A-Tip" by texting "MVPD" and the tip to 847411. Information can also be sent anonymously using the "Mount Vernon PD" app, available in the Google Play and Apple stores.
