State Police To Investigate Mt. Vernon Shooting Involving Off-Duty Cop
Two people were shot and three were taken to the hospital after gunfire erupted at a gathering in the southern Westchester County city.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Mount Vernon police officials said the New York State Police will investigate Sunday's shooting because an off-duty Mount Vernon police officer was involved.
The New York State Police is investigating the shooting that occurred on the 300 block of South 4th Avenue.
Because the incident involved an off-duty Mount Vernon police officer, the City of Mount Vernon and the Mount Vernon Police Department agreed that it was most appropriate to request assistance from the New York State Police to lead in this investigation.

Two people were shot at the gathering. A total of three people were treated at local hospitals and are now recovering, according to officials.
