Suspect In Hit-and-Run Found Disabled On The MCB

Police say the driver, who was drunk, fled up the Thruway from Yonkers before breaking down.

TARRYTOWN, NY — New York state police responded to a two-car crash on I-87 at 2:25 a.m. They found only one vehicle, a Volvo pickup truck; it was reported that the other driver had fled in a Toyota Rav4 with heavy front end damage.

The Rav4 was located soon afterward.

It was on the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, disabled.

Investigating officers concluded the driver of the Toyota, Victor R. Salazar, 37, of Clifton, NJ, was intoxicated.

He was transported and processed at state police offices in Tarrytown where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.23 percent. Salazar was charged with:

  • Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violations

Salazar was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the City of Yonkers Court on Jan. 24. No one was injured as a result of the collision.
