Suspect In Tuesday Morning Stabbing Arrested: MVPD
Police say the suspect has a criminal history dating back to the early '80s, including arrests for robbery, burglary, assault & narcotics.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — The Mount Vernon Police Department says that a man was hospitalized on Tuesday morning after being stabbed, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Shortly before noon on Tuesday, Mount Vernon police were called to South 2nd Ave. on a report of a man having been stabbed in the chest.
Officers found 37-year-old Karoy Chandler with a stab wound to the upper right side of the chest. He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment of his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, according to police.

Detectives said the stabbing happened in front of a residence on South 3rd Ave. They identified and found the suspect shortly after arriving on the scene.
The suspect, Alfred Patton, 59, of Mount Vernon, was taken into custody a few blocks away from the stabbing scene. He was taken to Mount Vernon City Jail where he was charged with attempted assault 1st degree, assault 2nd degree, and criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree.

Police say that Patton has a long criminal history dating back to the early 1980s, including arrests and convictions for robbery, burglary, assault and narcotics offenses.
Patton was scheduled to be arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court Wednesday afternoon.
