Residents of two apartments were displaced, according to the Red Cross.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — An apartment house fire Monday resulted in two uninhabitable apartments. Two pets were killed in the blaze, according to the Red Cross.
Firefighters called to a six-story apartment building on Ehrbar Avenue contained the blaze to one apartment. However, a second apartment was also rendered unlivable due to water damage.
The Red Cross was brought in by the city's emergency operations manager, said Carolyn Sherwin.
