Weather Played Part In Saw Mill Crash That Killed Pedestrian
The fatal crash happened in the heavy rainstorm overnight. Police said the driver of the car involved in the collision stayed at the scene.

YONKERS, NY — The Westchester County Police Department is investigating a pedestrian fatality that happened overnight on the Saw Mill River Parkway during torrential rains.
Shortly before 3 a.m., a Honda Pilot on the parkway near Odell Ave. hit a man who was trying to cross the southbound lanes of the roadway. The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was taken by Empress EMS to St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. He was pronounced dead there around 4 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. No charges were filed or summonses issued in connection with the accident, police said.

The southbound lanes of the Saw Mill River Parkway were closed for several hours for the accident investigation. The lanes were reopened prior to the morning rush hour.
The identity of the pedestrian man is being withheld until his family is notified.
