HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A Yonkers teenager has died after being stabbed in the abdomen at a New York City subway station on Saturday.

Police have identified the victim as 14-year-old Ethan Reyes. Officers responding to a call for help found Reyes with a stab wound around 3 p.m. on a platform at the 137th Street–City College station, according to the AP. He was later declared dead at the hospital.

A 15-year-old has now been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing. He will be charged with murder and possession of a weapon, according to police. Media reports have described the teenager in custody, whose name has not been released, as a rival of the Westchester teen who was killed. An argument between the two is said to have started on the street before turning tragic on a subway platform below.

Police said they recovered both a knife and a broomstick from the scene. NYPD announced an arrest in the case on Sunday.

“We thank NYPD detectives, with whom we cooperated, for the rapid arrest of a suspect," MTA NYC Transit President Richard Davey told AmNY. "That he and the victim are said to have known each other further underscores the senseless nature of this tragic incident."
