Westchester Jail Inmate Charged After Mt Vernon Man's Death
A fellow prisoner was charged with manslaughter Tuesday.
VALHALLA, NY — An inmate at the Westchester County Jail was charged Tuesday in connection with the death of a fellow prisoner, Bryce Neville, 18, of Mount Vernon. William Johnson faces a charge of Manslaughter 2nd Degree, a felony.
Westchester County police accused the 20-year-old Yonkers man of punching Bryce in the head, causing him to suffer fatal injuries when he fell to the floor and struck his head.
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 30. Johnson and Bryce had argued earlier in the day. Johnson is accused of punching Bryce from behind as the men walked through a common area at the jail.

Bryce was taken to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla in critical condition following the attack. He died of his injuries on Feb. 4.
Johnson’s arraignment is anticipated to occur on Thursday in Mount Pleasant Town Court.

The arrest followed an investigation by detectives from the County Police General Investigations Unit and investigators from Department of Correction Special Investigations Unit.
