Westchester SPCA, Cops Investigate Viral Video Of Apparent Dog Abuse

Yonkers police said in a statement they were aware of the shocking video which appears to have been recorded on a downtown city street.

YONKERS, NY — Police said they are investigating a case of apparent animal abuse after video of the troubling incident went viral on social media.

"The Yonkers Police Department is aware of a video that surfaced on social media that showed an individual appearing to mistreat an animal within the confines of our city," police said in a statement released Wednesday morning. "Yonkers Police Officers are currently investigating this incident in conjunction with the SPCA of Westchester County’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit."

Police officials said that additional information may be released as it becomes available.

Inside Yonkers reposted the video of an unknown dog walker picking up and slamming a pit bull into a metal rollup door at a storefront on Ridge Avenue. Warning: the mobile phone footage shows what appears to be animal abuse.
