Woman Hit In The Head With Ball-Peen Hammer Near Yonkers ShopRite
The victim was hit from behind in what police are calling an attack that "appears to be domestic in nature."

YONKERS, NY — A Yonkers woman escaped serious injury after being attacked and hit on the head with a hammer.
Shortly before 4:30 this evening, a woman approached the victim from behind and struck her on the head with a ball-peen hammer. Police say the attack occurred in the parking area of a busy downtown retail center at 25 Prospect Street.
The victim was treated at the hospital with a head laceration and is expected to recover, according to authorities.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken into custody. Police said charges are pending against the suspect.
Investigators believe the two women knew each other. The violent incident is being described as appearing "to be domestic in nature."
