Car Break-ins in Nanuet on the Rise

Clarkstown police report a rash of break-ins in recent weeks.

NANUET, NY — Clarkstown police report a rise in car break-ins that are occurring in the Nanuet/New City area in the overnight hours. In the past few weeks there have been 17 reported incidents.

The perpetrators have been gaining entry into the vehicles by breaking a window, police said, right in front of people's homes, or even in their driveways.

The robbers have taken money, computers, handbags and other valuable items from the vehicles. It appears that many of these vehicles had valuables that were left in plain view for the thieves to see.
