Clarkstown Cops Probe Attempt To Steal iPhones Worth $2,199

Police said someone tried to use a stranger's cellphone account to buy two iPhones.

NANUET, NY — A woman from Queens is accused of trying to buy iPhones by identity theft — in this case, using someone else's Sprint cellphone account.

Clarkstown police said they were called to the Sprint Store at 40 Rockland Plaza in Nanuet at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The patrol officers who responded interviewed an employee who told officers that a woman was attempting to access a Sprint cellphone account to purchase two iPhones for a total of $2,199. Officers said they verified that the primary account holder of the cell phone had no idea who the suspect was and had never given permission for her to be on the account.
