Consecutive Sentences In Back-to-Back Attacks on Ex

The Rockland man had been convicted after a jury trial on two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, class "A" Felonies.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A Spring Valley man will serve three consecutive terms in state prison over back-to-back attacks on his ex-girlfriend, her mother and a friend. His ex was seriously wounded in the second attack. Jonathan McNeil was arrested in 2016 and convicted in June.

McNeil was sentenced in October for the brutal attack on his ex-girlfriend and another man, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe announced.

McNeil was sentenced to 10, 12 and 15 years. He had been convicted after a jury trial on two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, class “A” Felonies.

“The defendant wielded a baseball bat and a handgun in a brutal and vicious attack at night upon two innocent people," District Attorney Zugibe said at the time. "The long prison terms imposed are more than warranted and are just punishment for a terrible crime.”
