Why Go: Show your children that they can make music, while watching the performances of other children.

Where/When: Nanuet Fire Department on Monday at 11 a.m.

Why Go: Bring the kids to celebrate the day off from school and understand the reason behind it.

Why Go: On a day that unofficially kicks off summer festivities, a Memorial Day Parade is an important way to remember those who died in our nation’s service.

- Pearl River Memorial Day Parade

Where/When:, located at 93 N. Middletown Rd. in Pearl River; Mon., May 30 at 10:30 a.m.

Details: The parade will step off from the HSBC Bank on N. Middletown Rd. and turn west on East Central Avenue to Braunsdorf Park. Call 845.365.9009 for more information.

Little Doctors Program Blood Drive with The Girl Scout and Brownie Troops of Franklin Elementary School

Where/When?:, 80 Franklin Ave. on Thurs., May 26 from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Why Go?: The Brownie and Girl Scout Troops at Franklin Elementary School are hosting a Community Blood Drive as part of the Little Donors Program for the NY Blood Center. Interested donors may sign up online at www.nybloodcenter.org or contact Maureen Damon at mdamon@optonline.net or 845.735.6631. Walk-ins are welcome. Please bring a photo ID with signature. Eat well and drink fluids before you donate.

- Memorial Day Parade

Where/When: Monday, May 30; Parade starts at 10 a.m. Steps off at Calvary Drive and heads down Main Street to the Rockland County Courthouse

Why go: Everyone loves a parade and this one honors the men and women who have fought for the United States. Sponsored by American Legion Post 1682 of New City. A service follows the parade and Army Captain Christopher Day, a graduate of Clarkstown North High School, will deliver a speech.
