Family Best Bets of the Week:

- Children's Storytime

Where/When: Wednesdays, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at of Nanuet

Why Go: Refresh yourself in the cool air conditioning while the kids enjoy some stories!

Price: free

Open Bounce Preschool Week

Where/When: Bounce City; Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: Ages 3 to 5 can get their bounce on, while you have time to take care of business before summer vacation sets in. 

Price: $25 per child per day

- All Clarkstown Pools Open

Where/When: Lake Nanuet and Congers Pool open for the season on Saturday, 12pm - 6:45 p.m. Germonds Pool opened last weekend, hours 12 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.

Why Go: It’s the first weekend of summer!

Price: Pool membership available as season or daily passes, Pool I.D. card required

- Dive In Movie

Where/When: Germonds Pool, West Nyack, Tuesday, June 28 gates open at 7:30 p.m., moive starts at 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Watch a movie while floating on a raft or swimming in the pool.

Price: $1 per person over the age of two years old plus proof of Clarkstown residency.

- Congers Fire Department Carnival

Where/When: Lake Road and N. Harrison Ave, Congers, June 23-26 (June 23 & 24 6-11 pm and June 25 & 26 4-11 p.m.)

Why Go: Rides and fireworks on 6/26 at 9:15 pm

Price: Not provided

- 2011 Battle of the Books

Where/When: Pearl River Public Library at 80 Franklin Ave. in Pearl River;

Wednesday, June 22 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Why Join:  If your child is between the ages of 12 and 18, then he/she can participate in the 2011 "Battle of the Books" competition. "Battle of the Books" team members will get together once a month to discuss the books from the "battle list," including: The Hobbit, Into Thin Air, The Wednesday Wars and Ghostopolis, to name a few. Teams from neighboring libraries will come together on Saturday, Sept. 10 and find out who knows the most trivia about the eight selected titles.

- Outdoor Movie Screening of "Despicable Me"

Where/When: Excelsior Fire Engine Company, 1 Michael Kernan Drive in Pearl River, off Route 304 by blinking light;
Saturday, June 25 at 8:30 p.m. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs! Refreshments will be available.

Donation: $4 for adults; $2 for kids under 12; $10 for family of 4
