Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

Family Best Bets of the Week:

Where/When: A. MacArthur Barr Middle School; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: Last weekend was the cub scouts, now this weekend is the big boys' turn! Show your support for Troop 33 and buy some great stuff!

Price: Free to enter.

Where/When: Barnes and Noble in Nanuet on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Why Go: The Cat in the Hat will be reading stories for the children!

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Veteran's Memorial Park in Orangeburg; Sat., May 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain date is Sat., May 14.

Why Go?: This annual event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Pearl River, is open to all children and their families. There will be prizes and trophies given for special catches and tagged fish, including a $1,000 savings bond for one "prize" catch.

- Max & Ruby Bunny Party

Where/When:   Storytime Room at the Pearl River Library, Wed., May 11 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Age:  Event is geared to children ages 2 - 4 years old

Pricing: Free, but registration is required. Registration is open from May 2 - 6 at the Information Desk in the Children's library.

Where/When: Pearl River United Methodist Church, 130 Franklin Ave.,
on Sat., May 14 from 5 - 7 p.m.

Why Go?: This annual event features an affordable and tasty meal comprised of 4 pieces of fish with chips or 4 pieces of chicken and chips with cole slaw, tartar sauce, dessert and a beverage. Take-out is available. All proceeds to benefit the United Methodist Church of Pearl River. Advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. Call 845.735.2241 for ticket information.
