Nanuet Bakery's New Location Almost Doubles Store Size
The bakery and coffee bar has moved slightly up North Middletown Road
After more than 15 years in its previous location, Joseph’s Bakery & Coffee Bar has moved.
Don’t worry, though. Joseph’s has moved, but only slightly. If you’re driving on N. Middletown Road toward Route 59, the bakery is now located in the shopping center on your left, right before the old location. It moved from 32 N. Middletown to 36 N. Middletown on Nov. 15.
The new location gives Joseph’s quite a bit more room, according to owner Mike Leo. It’s nearly double the size of the previous location, including a much larger baking area which has allowed the bakery to increase its menu.
“We have a lot more products now,” said Jenny Engel, the manager of the bakery. “We have different breads, we can make more specialty cakes and we do a lot more breakfast stuff.”
Engel said in the mornings they have different danishes, muffins, croissants and more. They still serve coffee and have a larger coffee bar now. They’re also giving away free coffee when you make a purchase in the store to celebrate their grand opening.
“We used to only have two chairs,” Engel said.
Now Joseph’s has four tables and the coffee bar, which sits six. Engel said the early reaction from customers has been very positive.
She said they first started thinking about moving about five or six months ago when the new location first became available. This is actually Joseph’s fourth location, as the bakery has been in Rockland since 1979, Leo said. The first two locations were next to Modell’s and then in the Posa Posa shopping center.
“Hopefully this will be the last,” Leo said. “We want to stay here a long time.”
