Mario's Diner Brings Comfort Food to Nanuet

Fresh Food and Friendly Service Come Standard at Mario's Diner Family Restaurant.

Looking for fresh, tasty comfort food?  Look no further than Mario’s Diner Family Restaurant on Main Street in Nanuet.

Formerly known as Potter’s Café, which reopened on June 27, 2011, Mario’s Diner Family Restaurant changed names—but not owners—earlier this year.  The restaurant is family run: Mario Martinez is the owner and his daughter Thalia works as a waitress and hostess.

The family decided to change the name in order to reflect the type of food the restaurant really served.

“Many people thought it was just a café,” Thalia Martinez said. “We wanted everyone to know we have more to offer.” The name change has helped and Mario’s has seen a definite increase in customers in the last few months.

“People have gotten to know us over time and they tell others about us,” said Martinez.

Along with the name change came a total overhaul to the restaurant.

“We redid everything when we changed the name.  We have new computers and menus.  We even put in booths,” she said.  New items, especially breakfast offerings, were added to the menu to make Mario’s a go-to option for Nanuet diners.

The renovations give the restaurant a friendly and welcoming feel.  You can choose to eat right at the counter or with a group at a cozy table or booth.  The restaurant seats 50 and is located in the heart of downtown Nanuet.

Mario’s Diner Family Restaurant hopes to be known for its great service and its fresh ingredients.  It offers a wide range of food types from Spanish, Greek and Italian food, to good old American comfort food.

“Our most popular items would have to be our coffee and soups.  People like them because they are all home made.  I had one customer come in this morning and say she comes here just for our coffee because it’s the best in town.”

Be sure to stop by Mario’s Diner Family Restaurant at 119 Main Street Nanuet, NY next time your looking for a fresh cooked meal.
