Bigger Space for Hair Shops After Nanuet Mall Move

One day before Simon Property closed the Nanuet Mall, Mario's Barber Shop and Unisex Palace were still operating. The third was The very next day, Feb. 1, they were cutting hair in . 

Barber Dave Papaj proudly showed a photo on his phone of him cutting the last customer at the former Mario's Barber Shop in the mall. The last haircut walked through the doors at 8 p.m., he said.

Mario's Barber Shop and Unisex Hair Palace are now calling the the previous  store their new home. It's adjacent to the mall located between and—418 Nanuet Mall South, Nanuet. 

Both hair shops are owned by the same owner so a big change is that both are now share an address, however, the new place is divided down the middle to note their separate operations. Both also retain their own phone numbers:  

• Unisex Palace Hair Salon—623 4327
• Mario’s Barber Shop—623 4134

"The new place is going to be great," said Papaj. "It's a great start on everything. We have lot of things to get done still, but so far everyday has been better."

Although the walls are bare and there is sparse decor, there are plans to spruce the place up and make it more inviting. Right now, they have a strong starting point with the furniture, equipment and chairs in place.

"The workers are geat. This place will have a great future," said Papaj. "We don't miss the old mall because it was (deteriorating) at the end. Now we're on to bigger and better."
