Nanuet Residents: Consider Police Work as a Career
Rockland County officials announce the upcoming civil service exam.

The County of Rockland is now accepting applications for the Civil Service examinations for the positions of Police Officer and Patrol Officer.
Those who wish to pursue a career in law enforcement are encouraged to apply to take the Civil Service examination, which will be held on Nov. 19, said Rockland Personnel Commissioner Joan Silvestri.
Applications are now being accepted online at rocklandgov.com and by mail.

The tests, which are the first step in the process of becoming a police officer, are administered by the County of Rockland.
"Law enforcement is a proud career," said Rockland County Executive Ed Day, himself a former police officer, in the announcement. "It is a special way of caring for your community."

Both Silvestri and Rockland County Human Rights Commissioner Penny Jennings are reaching out to different communities in Rockland to make sure as many people as possible are aware of the upcoming test, officials said.
Applications to take the examinations are available:
- online at http://rocklandgov.com/departments/personnel/civil-service-examinations/ or by clicking here
- at the Rockland County Department of Personnel, 18 New Hempstead Rd., New City, NY 10956
- at any town or village police station within Rockland County and at the Rockland County Sheriff's Office
Eligibility requirements to take the exam can be also found online at rocklandgov.com or by contacting the Department of Personnel at 845-638-5200/05.
The application filing fee per examination is $30. Applications must be postmarked by Sept. 30.
