President Jim Damiani tapped the bell to start yesterday's meeting of the Nanuet Rotary Club at Clarksville Inn. As the club started their usual announcements, the topic of discussion rotated to their benefit concert.

Ob-la-di Ob-la-da is a Beatles Tribute Concert at Nanuet Senior High School's Auditorium October 15 at 7:30pm. The proceeds from the ticket sales will all go toward education scholarships the Rotary Club gives to a Nanuet residents and students. Consisting of two 75-minute sets with an intersession, the concert will have refreshments made by the Nanuet High School's Life Skills class. All proceeds from the refreshments go to People to People.

Damiani said that they would keep trying to find sponsors and added that he was thankful for how fast the sponsorship money from Schultz went through.

"It was really quick. It was great," he said explaining that everything fell into place after emailing a sponsor package over to Schultz.

However, halfway through the club's meeting, Lennane excitedly made an announcement.

"We met our goal ... Now I can finalize the flyer [for the concert]," Lennane said Beckerle Lumber just gave $1000 to help sponsor the concert. Although these big sponsorships cover most of the costs, the rotary club hopes for more sponsors to help out with other expenses for the concert.

At the end of each Nanuet Rotary Club meeting, a box is passed around for happy bucks in which everyone puts in a few dollars for something good that happened recently. A few of yesterday's happy bucks were for the success of reaching their sponsorship goal.
