Nanuet's Newly-Remodeled Weight Watchers Reopens

One of the new changes is that they're open during regular retail hours instead of just meeting hours

People come to Weight Watchers to get a positive change in how they look and eat. Now Weight Watchers went through a recent change for the better too. After two and a half months and redirecting members to a temporary location in Stony Point, the newly-remodeled Weight Watchers opened with a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning. Two loyal members waited outside for the business to open its doors at 8 a.m.

“It’s a very modern looking, definitely updated in many ways,” said Mindy Martakis, a lifetime Weight Watchers member. “There used to be a wall here (in the middle of the room separating the weigh-in desk and the meeting room). It’s much more open now.”

Almost the entire interior has been redone, from the walls, floors, furniture, paint and more. The new weigh-in system is a lot more discreet as well.

“We have three pods for weighing in that offer a more private experience,” said Leslie DelCastillo, territory manager. “We have a merchandising wall now.”

“Before, when you walked in, there were three scales (in the open). This is much more private,” said Martakis. “Weight Watchers is great. I love the fact that somebody is looking over you so you’re not the only one that’s held accountable.”

“Our customers are so happy that we’re back because we relocated our meetings to Stony Point when we were doing renovations here,” said DelCastillo. “We’ve been at this location for at least 10 years. We’re glad to have our customers home and be back in Nanuet where we belong.”

One of the other new changes is that it’ll be open during regular retail hours and not just during meeting times.

“We moved into a more retail environment with our hours,” said DelCastillo. “I, myself, when I joined as a member, it was closed. It’s such a great advantage for people who can’t come in at set meeting times.”

“It looks great with what they’ve been able to do in a couple of months. It’s a very stark difference from what it was before,” said Councilwoman Stephanie Hausner, who rejoined last year. “I’m so excited. (With the new hours), people will be able to come when it’s convenient for them.”

Hours of operation and meeting times are listed below. Meetings are guided by Weight Watchers Leaders.

“We lead and facilitate open discussions on a weekly topic,” said Leader Andrew Paer.

“We give them knowledge, motivation, support and we laugh a lot,” added Leader Linda Hirschberg. “We also share success stories.”
